Car won’t start

Asked by Madison Jun 12, 2018 at 02:56 AM about the 2000 Ford Mustang Convertible RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just got this car Wednesday. Has a brand new
battery in it. Everything was fine and the all of the
sudden it wouldn’t start when I put the key in the
ignition. The dash lights would flicker and make
clicking noises, but when I tried to start it the engine
didn’t even sound like it was trying to turn over.
Tried jumping it and still nothing.   The keys have a
push to start button on them (obviously after market
installation, not sure if self or professionally
installed) so when I tried that it started right up.
Since then I’ve had to use the button to start the car
so it’s been running but that’s a bit unreliable to rly
on the key fab to start my car every single time.

One of two possible problems. Either the anti-theft security system has not been reset after a battery change. or you have a a bad battery cable or ground. If warrantied take it back where you bought it, and have them fix it.
