Mustang GT won’t start!
I have a 2000 Mustang GT. About a year ago it
started acting funny. When I turn the key, it’ll crank
but won’t fire. I can do that until the battery dies but
nothing. This went on for a couple weeks. It
randomly started one time. But otherwise, nothing.
Two different mechanics had it and were stumped.
Finally tried getting a standard key cut and keeping
the chip key in the glove compartment to trick the
anti theft system, and it seemed to work ok for a
few months. But now it’s right back to cranking but
not firing. I’m at a loss. Any ideas???
Go you have spark? fuel? when it acts up?
Check your starter
Those two mechanics weren't very good. If you're getting the crank, then it's likely your spark is the problem. How many miles does it have? Have you checked the spark plugs and ignition coils? Also be sure to check your fuses. Word to the wise though: don't keep cranking it over and over again or you'll fry the starter. Also, I'm not sure why you'd have the chip key in the glovebox for the antitheft system. Another thing to check would be your fuel injectors. If you have one or multiple clogged, then you may not be getting the engine the fuel it needs to crank. I'm sticking with my gut here and saying it sounds like a spark issue to me.
My car is doing the same thing I have spark but I have no fuel getting to my fuel rail
