Electrical problems with my 99 Hyundai Accent?

Asked by Jules Jan 31, 2013 at 12:41 AM about the 1999 Hyundai Accent L 2-Door Hatchback FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It started with the wipers not turning off, then the washer fluid sprayer wouldn't stop. The next day the signal lights
died, and the high beams died. Some friends have said it is something in the steering column. Has anyone ever
had this happen? Can I fix it myself?

It could also be an alternator problem. You should get your alternator tested... Electronics start acting funny when the alternator isn't charging properly.

Find a Hyundai forum and read up on cleaning/repair/replace of the multi function switch. That's the switch at the top of the steering column that has the wipers, lights, turn signals and other various controls.
