There's a ticking sound behind my dashboard that sounds like an old-fashioned wind-up alarm clock. In 44 years of driving I've never heard of such a thing. My battery is nearly dead and the car won't turn over. The last time I drove, the blower came on when I shut the engine off.

Have the battery charged and and take the car to ur local auto parts to check the charging system, it might be a relay trying to turn on but battery is too weak. As far as the fan coming on after you turned off the car, it's normal, it will come on til the temperature drops to normal and shuts off by itself

Thank you. This isn't starter clicking that I'm hearing. I open the door without getting the keys out of my pocket and my car is ticking away like a time bomb. I'm going out again to have another look. Maybe the clicking sound is from the cooling fan trying to turn over on just a little battery juice that's left. I was just reading up on cooling fan failures. I'll be back. Thanks again....

having problems with my hyundai not starting. i changed the battery and the started checked the alternator and still nothing. after hours of online searching i found that this is a common problem with most hyundais and nobody knows the answer. upon further examination of my car i removed the valve cover to find that 6 of my rockers had fallen off of the intake side cam. so if anyone else is running into the typical hyundai problem of it only starting when it wants i would start by checking there before throwing a bunch ot other unnecessary parts or money at it. 1 Answer
