I'm trying to replace the driver's side far left headlight bulb. Which piece turns counterclockwise to release the bulb from the rear of the casing?

Disconnect the wire from the bulb and then twist the bulb assembly 1/4 turn. Bulb 9006 is the low beam and 9005 is the high beam. This would be a good time to upgrade your headlights with a brighter bulb. Headlights have a limited life so replacing both at the same time would be best.
