Car won't start on half a tank of gas

Asked by thehomielaz Jul 30, 2015 at 05:47 PM about the 1995 Honda Accord EX V6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 95 accord, not only does the
gas only go to half a tank but also gas
gauge fluxuates a lot. Should I buy a
New pump and replace it myself?

Thanks for the feedback Jim. I had remembered that previous owner said that pump was good but installed backwards? And for that reason it wouldn't pump correctly. If I were to go in and install it to the correct fittings would it work?

Not positive about the 95 Accord Fuel pump, but MOST pumps will only fit in ONE way due to the fittings and electrical connectors. It is probably the Fuel Level Sending unit on top of the pump that is bad and should be replaced. You probably are getting a 1/2 tank reading when it is actually Empty.
