Can I swap in a newer engine, I have the 86 xt with the EA82T

I have a 1986 Turbo xt GL10. 4 wheel drive.  Can I put a newer engine in with out a lot of electrical changes.

A different model engine is not going to work without a lot of changes if it works at all.
