Dome light wont turn on for driver door. 97 Honda Accord

Asked by GuruDMPH5 Sep 24, 2017 at 05:10 AM about the 1997 Honda Accord LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced my dome light bulb with a led bulb
and had the driver door open while doing so
I caused the bulb to arc the dome light by
accident since the new led had a heat sink
installed to the back the heat sink which
happened to hit both prongs. After changing
the interior light fuse that blew my dome
light doesn't turn on with the driver door
open. My courtesy light comes on but no
dome and all courtesy lights and dome
come on with all other doors and door
chimes still work. My driver door ajar
indicator light isn't working as well either but
it comes on when the key is turned to the on
position and the dash lights up. I've read it
could be a burnt wire or a bad circuit board
but I want to try and find a solution or at
least pointed in the right direction before
really digging into it.

Well yes of course but the problem would have still happened regardless due to the heat sink touching both poles would have just popped when I touched the cable back to the battery. I ripped the heat sink off after it happened.
