Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So will a bad head gasket or a
bad valve cover gasket make
the heater not blow hot air?

Low coolant level could do that. Could also be a bad blend door actuator. I would check coolant level first, and that you have coolant flowing to the heater core. A blown head gasket would be causing you other problems and not just lack of heat from heater core. A bad valve cover gasket would not affect the heater core.
