Rolled Back Odometer fraud

Asked by Soni Jun 16, 2014 at 07:23 PM about the 2001 Honda Civic EX

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Hi,

I have bought the car same like you which is Honda 2001 in 3500 $.

I was on job and got little time to manage the deal. I went to see the car on day 1 the
car ran good and I like it. I had my roommate and a friend who came with me to see
the car. The girl was pregnant and refuse to take check because of her urgency to pay
for hospital. I agreed and told her to come on next day. On the second day we thought
of going to mechanic and check for the car. We reached to the car location and called
that lady but a guy(her husband) picked the call and told us that she is in hospital. We
discuss about the car and he asked for the money in cash. We waited / thought
(because the lady was white and the guy who appeared was Pakistani). Since It was
my lunch time and need to go back on job, we finally decided to buy the car. We paid
him cash and took the title.

On the way going back the car broke down because of some issue and I called that
guy notifying that incident. He told to towed it to a mechanic shop with a promise that
he will visit there next day.

Then no one showed up, not replying to calls and not replying to the messages.

Its been a week and I have not transferred the car title on my name. I went to a dealer
and he ran the carfax report. The result showed that there is an ODOMETER problem
which was rolled back.

Today I am looking for some possible suggestions.

Thank you

Ditto here. NEVER buy a car without having the dealer go over all the important check necessary to asses if it is sound or not. We call what they did to you being scammed! Very sorry!
