Repetitive Key Turns

Asked by Egaleazzi Apr 15, 2020 at 11:16 AM about the 2003 Honda Accord LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Need to know what part to replace.

My Honda Accord may take a couple of key turns for the
car to start. There are times it starts the first time. Then
there are times it takes quite a few turns back to back to
back. Instrument panel and everything powers up, but the
car doesn't start.

Is it the ignition switch, the key cylinder??

More likely the ignition switch. Google "Diagnose Ignition Switch Problems", if you have a voltage meter you can check for proper voltage levels at various switch positions (Off, ACC, Run, Start). If you are getting power to the motor for RUN or START, then you'll have to diagnose the starting circuit, beginning with the starter relay.
