can a 2016 camry be driven with 5-30 oil?

If your car had 100k miles on it, I would say it wouldn't hurt to leave the heavier (5W30) oil in the engine. But its only a year old so you probably have under 20k miles. Clearances between engine parts are very tight on a newer engine, so you should consider putting the factory recommended oil (5W20) in it.

I would default to what the manufacture recommends. Definitely use the 5W20 in the winter if you live in a colder region. The thicker 5W30 will be even denser when it is cold outside.

0W20 Full Synthetic is what is in the owners manual. I have one. 5W30 is not recommended

I change it at 6K. Toyota says 10K but I just can’t do that with all the mechanical knowledge I have.

10k oil changes sound good as a sale pitch but are a bad idea if you plan on keeping the car past 100,000 miles.

Wow lots of bad info here. 5w30 oil is no thicker than 5w20 oil at cold temperatures. 5w30 is only slightly thicker than 5w20 at operating temperature (thicker meaning higher viscosity). This vehicle likely requires 0w20 full synthetic oil. Look in the owner's manual and if 0w20 is required I would get the oil changed just to be safe. Will it hurt anything to leave 5w30 in the engine? Probably not, but it is possible under extreme cold temperatures.
