Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We bought a 2016 Camry with 22K mileage. At th e oil change  ( synthetic
Oil ).

we had used a quart of oil. The dealer had set the car to show it needed an
oil change every 5k miles, not 10k for the synthetic oil. I started monitoring
the oil closely. In 1800 miles, the car has used 10 ounces of oil ( i took it to
the dealer and they added the 10 ounces of oil after 1803 miles. So in 10k
miles the car would use about 50 ounces of it and be down almost 2 quarts
at the 10k mile mark.  The dealer tells me a quart every 1500 miles is
industry standard.

I think you are using 0W20 oil. You could change to 5W20 synthetic and see if it changes the oil consumption. The BS story the dealer told you is the new "normal" dealers and car manufacturers are promoting to cover up the oil consumption problem caused by "going green".

The dealer found no leaks when they had changed the oil before and I have no drops of oil on my garage floor. I do not wnat fix the issue by using a heavier weight oil unless I have to. This is a " Toyota Certified Car ". Ha ha.

I have a 2017 with the same problem. It hab 19k when I bought it. It lost a half qt in the first 4k, I took it in and 2k later it's back to a half qt low. My 2010, same 4 cylender, first generation of that engine, never looses a drop! Well I'm bringing it in tomorrow to get it checked it out. Wish me luck
