Ignition break in 01 ford Expidition

I lost my key.  Cannot find it. Cannot afford 180 for
a new one.
When i was young i had a truck i broke the ignition
lock and started it.
Will that work in this truck or will it just screw it up
more?

Don't do it as the bill to fix it will be a lot more than $180.
