By coolant you mean freon ? Is the compressor running now or has it stopped ? If it is running continuous and no cool air only heated air is coming out of vents. You might have a problem with the blend door in your HVAC box. If compressor is not running now after you charged it and was short cycling after you charged it. It would say you got a pretty good leak and the freon has leaked out again

Being only a year old, you should be able to get this covered under warranty, if the problem resulted from a leak. Blowing HOT air, versus AC simply not getting cold, is usually caused by the temperature blend door being stuck open to the heater core. Either the actuator failed or the door itself got stuck, or you have a faulty climate control switch/setting. Most of the time it's the actuator wearing out from age, but with your car being so new, it might be something in the climate control switch or a module. Check with the dealer and see if this is covered under warranty.

I have a 2015 Passat, same question. I saw it is in the interior fuse box behind the steering wheel in older models but I opened up the fuse box and don’t see it where it is supposed to be. Am I missing something?!

I have a 2015 Passat, same exact issue. Has been back to the dealership 4 times for the issue & each time they claim 1.) they can't find any issues or 2.) we fixed it but its never been fixed - now they claim we are out of our CPO warrant & any repairs would have to be paid by us. The 3rd repair happened while on vacation & that dealership claimed it had been fixed, we then drove over 600 miles without a/c & then the a/c started working. This is my first Volkswagen & will be my last, they have not been any help or stood by their product.

My 2015 Passat has been a lemon. They replaced my heater core because the fan wasn't working when the car was 3 years old and had 82000 km on it - they did this as a “good will”. Needless to say it never fixed the problem. The air works intermittently - last summer it worked about 40% of the time now it works 5% of the time. I will NEVER buy another VW!!! All replaced in 3.5 years under 110,000 km: 1. Heater core 2. Wiring harness around steering wheel 3 fuel injectors 4. DEF ad blue system (it blew in -20C weather) 5. Air conditioning and heat doesnt work! My fords were never like this - this car is a POS!

Is relay #34 like some sort of “go get the board stretcher and dehydrated water” joke. I can’t find anything in the manual about it for 2015. I can’t find anything in the fuse diagram that mentioned HVAC or climate control. I saw on “Utube” where people fixed it on older models. It’s not there on the 2015 Passat. If anyone can help me find this thing before I take it to the shop I’ll PayPal you $40. It’s June 4th 8:40 am central time.

I'm assuming you have manual A/C controls, not Climatronic (automatic temperature control), since Climatronic wouldn't have a 384 relay.

Found the real culprit! Although I haven’t yet tried this for myself yet because I’m in a long distance relationship with my car BUT it seems reasonable that AC Compressor Solenoid has gone bad. It’s a little device that inserts into the compressor that controls when it runs and stops. Finally there are people on YouTube posting stuff about it. Catch, it’s not an easy repair. Will require you to evacuate your Freon, take the compressor out, change the part, reinstall stuff and refill Freon. Something I can’t do at home. PS. F**k VWs never buying this shit again.

My VW Passat Aircond not Functioning. NO Power at all. Not even any air comes out. Can anyone help?

I have a 15 Jetta with the same syptoms. It will work great right after i charge, then hissing sound in dash after a few months and cold air not working aa well, then a/c not efficient at all. After i recharge it starts the cycle all ovee again. I put dye in the system to find a leak. I was not able to find it in any of the a/c components in the engine bay so it only leaves the expansion valve or a/c evaporater both located underneath the dash so not an easy repair. Just thought id share in case anyone is experiencing the same.

I'm feeling all the pain on this thread. I am also trying to get to the bottom of why this air con don't work. 1.Replaced solenoid valve. Nope 2, Replaced pressure switch. Nope 3, Replaced compressor. Sort of... Worked for 2 months then stopped again. 4. Told it could be the control module...???? Never ever think about buying a VW. If you do think about it, hit your thumb multiple times with a hammer... It will be less painful.
