1998 GMC Suburban 1500 brake light problem

Asked by rtplumbing Oct 18, 2016 at 09:14 PM about the 1998 GMC Suburban K1500 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1998 GMC 1500 Suburban. My brake lights worked then stopped
working. ( but everything else worked). Replaced stop light switch and they
worked fine. 2 months later, the brake lights started only coming on when
you partially depress the pedal then nothing when you fully depress. then
they stopped completely. Replaced switch again and they did it again. I now
have no brake lights even on the top bar but everything else still works.
even the hazards. I've replaced fuses, relays, and bulbs. Any ideas? I'm
going nuts and have to drive close to 200 miles 5 days a week.
