Why are the brakes out?

Asked by Don Apr 23, 2021 at 10:07 PM about the 2004 GMC Envoy 4 Dr SLT 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

No brake fluid leaking. No warning lights. No brake pedal when engine is
running. Good brake pedal with engine off. Will not shift while engine is running
either. Shifter moves but does not change out of park.  2004 GMC envoy.

Sounds like you have a linkage issue on the transmission or the trans itself needs some work. If no brake fluid is leaking you have a bad brake master cylinder or brake booster. Either way, have the truck towed to a garage.
