how expensive to get the headlights fixed?

Check fuses. You may have had 1 bulb burnt out for some time as it is hard to tell, then when the other blew u assumed both went out. Also if there wired in series if the first one goes, the other won't work. I am curious how you know the bulbs are o.k.
