Make sure you have your foot pressing the brake pedal to get it out of park.

http://www.arfc.org/complaints/2003/gmc/envoy/10471559.aspx -- check this out. It is for a 2003 but yours might have the same broke plastic part.

I have a 2004 GMC envoy that starts but the gear shift will not move and the break pedal is hard to move. Can any one help me fix this.
