Collision sensor on Vehicle has started going off randomly and so do the breaks

My 2014 Terrain started having issues with the Collision Sensor going of when I am just driving down the road at speeds of 25-50. When the sensor goes off I can feel the break at the same time. I am always just driving, not breaking or turning or anything. GMC dealer cannot find anything wrong. brought it back home and 3 days later happened again. Weather type is not a factor. Anyone else have this issue

Take it back as it is under warranty. The computer sensor is acting up.
The car manual states the sensor does not activate unless your going 35 MPH. You can change the distance you get to the car in front of you before the warring is activated on the steering wheel control. I was told my car (2014 I-4) has a automatic braking system to slow you down when going down hills, but I was not told it works on the collision warring device. The automatic braking system uses the engine to keep the speed in control, much like trucks use the engine to slow down without using the brakes so they will not heat up.
I now have to modify my above answer. My Terrain does activate a braking sensor if the car in front of me slows down quickly and I don't. I am a non courteous driver and will get as close to the car as I safely can. I notice it does it at times even when there is no car in my lane, but I'm overtaking cars in other lanes. It's a pain, but it does warn me to lookout for other cars. Guess we will just have to get use to it.
John and carmakay, I too have had an issue like you describe on my 2014 Terrain. The dealership replaced the sensor but I have still had it to happen again but other than startling me with the sudden slow down by the braking system I haven't complained about this issue anymore. My warranty just ran out in March and they STILL have not been able to find the cause of my battery dying many times since December 2014. They have replaced my battery three times in addition to the original battery. Four batteries in less than three years and they can't find a cause!
My terrain will activate the self braking system fir I'm on a city street and going around a bend in the road with a car parked on the side. I guess if a car is in the direct line of site/direction, it will activate. I only seen to happen when the news is on and an important bit of information is being give. The radio cuts out to sound the alarm. That's what is aggravating. It does keep you aware of surroundings.
