2014 terrain started spontaneously while parked in my garage, it continued to run until I discovered it and shut it off by inserting the key turning as if to start then shutting it off.what could this

It is in the computer. Your key fob is set to only start your car when you have the fob next to the start switch. It also could be the auto start on your fob that is causing it. If you have more than one fob, switch fobs and see if that works.
