Oil consumption

I own a 2014 Subaru Outback. It has been using oil since 18000 miles. Never
does it make it past 3000 miles without oil light on and down a qt. I use 0-20
mobile 1. I’ve had it checked numerous times at dealer I have done numerous
consumption tests to no avail. I talked to the attorneys with the lawsuit they
said they have to change the motor. They will not change it. They say it
doesn’t meet requirements. Help

Subaru's standard is one quart in 3,600 miles or 1/3 quart in 1,200 miles. If it uses less than that they will not replace the short block. I would suggest using 5W20 ot 5W30 synthetic and see how that works out.

0w-20 is way too thin so it causes oil consumption. Switch to a 5w-30 full synthetic

I have a 2010 Subaru Outback 3.6R. I notice that it tends to consume oil a bit more whenever I use Mobile 1 5W-30 full synthetic. I’ve driven 2,000 miles since my last oil change, and now I’m down a quart. When I used a different brand provided by a local independent shop, oil consumption was less. I’m thinking that I will no longer use Mobile 1 with my Outback in the future.

I went through the same thing. Must have done half a dozen consumption tests. They eventually did a a test over a longer time frame which showed there was an issue and they replaced the engine under warranty. Stick with it and don't take no for an answer

I had the oil issue with my 2014 Forester just after the warranty was up. I called Subaru of America. They paid to replace the short block at the dealers. I paid $400 out of pocket. They paid about $2000. One year later and “one month” the short block warranty expired. The oil light, engine light and another light came on. I wasn’t down oil. Now I need a new engine! Subaru of America said they will pay 50%. I bought a Subaru thinking I can easily get over 200,000 miles NOT! If I decide not to fix it, trade it in(now it’s worth even less!) Subaru America will give me $2000 towards a new Subaru. I’m stuck with a Subaru now! I really dont want another Subaru.

I have the same excessive oil consumption issue after I drove 61K miles with my 2014 Subaru Outback. I went to a dealership and I think they overfilled the oil for a test because the issue came back after the test. I've driven several models of vehicles but only Subaru has the issue. I don't recommend Subaru to anyone I know and I will not buy Subaru anymore. Subaru lost its uniqueness after Toyota invested and they changed the Subaru driving system several years ago. Subaru is no longer the traditional Subaru.

Yeah they suck. I love my Subaru Outback except for this. Will never buy another Subaru again! Punish them with your wallets. Money is all corporations care about.
