Asked by Earl Mar 11, 2018 at 08:22 AM about the 2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Question type: General

I have oil getting in my spark plugs on my 2008 Ford
Crown Vic Police Interceptor, what does that mean. Do I
need to get another motor or get it rebuilt, which 1 would
be  better to do or cheaper?

I wanted to really go from a 4.6 to a 5.0 with a lil cam on it, that’s why I asked. Give me a lil more power and torque

So with me wanting to do that, should I get it rebuilt so I can put a Lil cam on it, if I want that Police Interceptor I will have to stay with a original motor don’t it

If oil is getting on the body of the spark plugs the plug well gaskets as well as the cam cover gaskets need to be replaced.

I always warn people that want to purchase a Crown Vic Police Interceptor about this potential problem. These cars run almost constantly all day and, often, the engines are pushed to the limit. I consider this engine to be great, however, their "life expectancy" is shorten by the demands they are put through; many times "abused" instead of used. They require minor overhauls at about 180000 miles and mayor at over 200000 miles. I would say that the engine in your Police Interceptor has reached the second mark. I say this from personal experience, I am a retired Sheriff's Deputy. And yes, follow the advise and repair the same engine!

Yes, I bought it from a Police Auction and it had set up there for a few years before I bought it. I bought it changed all 8 spark plugs and core packs in it, it had major power in it and ran great for 2 years. When I put all that power back in it, I played wit it a lot and I guess that motor was already done and me with all that power and playing wit it that was a no go

I’m just gone buy this motor and transmission from this site, they both have 33000 miles on them both and just replace both. It’s gone cast me 2000 but it is the same setup with the police interceptor in both, the engine just come without the timer chain cover

I’m not gone swap it, I’m a put the same size motor and transmission in it. I found a 4.6L motor with the transmission together, they both have the police interceptor package and they both have 33000 miles on it
