Transmission question 07 crown Victoria police interceptor

Asked by Katy Oct 07, 2016 at 07:32 AM about the 2007 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok so ive been given a few ideas of whats wrong
with my car. It takes when i stop and stsrt to go
again it kind of does a hard catch. Kinda jerks a
little going into 1st. Smoothest ride ever after that
then when i slow down to turn or slow down to let
someone turn and it's almost a stop but not
co.pletely it takes it a minute to again catch 1st
gear to go. I was told it was the fluid and filter
needing to be changed. Someone said tranny
could be fried etc. What do yall think?

Could be a torque converter too, it gets its fluid from the tranny, so maybe check fluid levels and a tranny flush and filter change would probably help. BUT if there is something wrong with the tranny, you'll just be wasting money changing fluid. A tranny shop with computer diagnostics might be your best bet. FYI when checking trans fluid, make sure trans is at the proper operating temperature, otherwise you'll get a false reading on fluid level.

The fluid level is full. And a tranny shop judt put it on computer diagnostic with no codes or anything on it so basically to a stand still. No codes no check engine light nothing

It's the fluid pump in the transmission and your first year is fixing to go out you need to start looking for a new transmission or new used transmission I work on police cars all the time in the shop that I work at and this is a very common problem because they're extremely hard on them before they auction them off
