2007 crown Victoria police interceptor

Asked by Gregory Oct 16, 2018 at 11:26 PM about the 2007 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a police interceptor 2007 crown victoria and
I replaced the alternator due to the clutch going out
and my battery light is on now. I did not pay the
$300 for the alternator for the police interceptor
package I paid for the one for just a 4.6L thinking it
would work but just wondered if anyone else has
come across the same situation or if you all know
where to get a reliable alternator a little cheaper?
Any advice helps thanks!

You have to use the police package one. You can take your chances and try and find a used one.

Your alternator is controlled by the ECU. Using the wrong alternator will result in it not charging the battery. I have no way to determine what year the alternator you bought is, but I am guessing that it may be the problem. Correct parts will almost always work correctly, but incorrect parts for a vehicle sometimes will not function as you intend them to.
