Why is the (!) light flashing after I lock the doors?

As I shut off my 2014 Ford Escape the 4 way flashers turns on for a couple of seconds
and when I lock the doors the (!) is flashing?  Any ideas?

Well some of us bought our cars second-hand, and didn't get the owner's manual, and while we know that we can look the manual up online, we thought it might be easier and a little nicer to ask some of our fellow Escape owners.
