My car won't start and makes a one time click noise

Loose or corroded battery cable will do that. Click the solenoid one time and next try start. If you do test the battery first test with cables attached, through clamps, then test bare battery posts and see if there is a difference

Also if you don't have any of the testing equipment you can drive it to Sears and I think for fifteen or twenty dollars at most Sears they can check your hole starting charging system and give you an idea if its the starter or alternator or the battery or both or all three usually its just one out of the three that's bad good luck! Could be a loose ground too or wiring that's broken.

if it clicks just once when you turn the key it is likely the starter , but if it clicks more than once it is the battery is weak and not enough power left to engage the starter the proper way
