It might be an indication that the four wheel drive function is not engaging. Check your owners manual for details. Sometimes backing up gently takes the strain off the drive train, allowing the drive gears to engage.
My knob that you turn to switch the vehicle into 4 high / 4 low/snow/hill/ect keeps flashing all of the lights. I have no idea what is going on?
