Asked by cheynichole May 09, 2016 at 12:32 AM about the 1988 Chevrolet Cavalier Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It has been sitting for seven years, drove
fine with moving it, but when I drive it now
will run fine then stall at a stopping. After
that when trying to start it back up( will start
up fine everytime)will have a high rev/idle
then when I place it in any gear will die.
Then be fine to drive in about 20 minutes.

Could be a torque converter that's locked up. Check around for leaks, and check all fluids. Unless you're mechanically inclined, id take it to a shop and have them take a look at the TC
