Toyota Camry won't start w/out giving it some gas

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a 2013 Toyota Camry SE w/ a remote starter. Recently what has been happening
is, when you try to start it with the remote starter, the car will turn over and crank, but no
start. If I go down and get in the car and start it manually it will start if I give it some gas...
Thought maybe was fuel filter, which is not a separate items, it's part of the fuel pump,
which is almost $900. Want to be sure it may not be something else before we spend that
kind of $
