The 15 amp fuse snaps everytime the passenger door is closed shut

Asked by migration_Markuss7 Mar 26, 2013 at 07:25 PM about the 1988 Ford Thunderbird RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have to replace the 15 amp fuse everytime the door is closed. The interior lights of the car have their own seperate fuse to operate which is confusing since the door closing snaps the heater module fuse, hence no heat in the car

The closing door is hitting the wire somewhere. It rubbed the insulation off and it created a direct short to ground. Maybe it's that rod between the hinges that holds the door open. --- BTW, fuses don't snap or break. Fuses are said to blow when the element melts from overcurrent.

check the harness at the hinge area under the according cover, from bending over and over they may be broke and touching ground, you may have to slit the cover to get in.
