2013 Cruze Infocenter keeps blowing fuses

Asked by Kimosabie Sep 09, 2016 at 09:08 AM about the 2013 Chevrolet Cruze 2LT Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Yesterday I started my 2013 Chevy Cruze and noticed that the touch-screen info-center didn't turn on. it was completely turned off. The radio (music) turned on with the ignition, but I could not change the station or the volume... or even turn it off. Obviously the backup camera and navigation features were also not available since the screen would not turn on.

I checked the fuse on the info-center and noticed that it was blown. Excited that I thought I found a simple fix, I replaced the fuse with a new one. However, when I started up the car, the problem persisted. I checked the new fuse again, and this time it was blown too.

Any suggestions?

More than likely somewhere there is a chafe in the wire or a short somewhere I would pull the fuse so their isnt a connection to be made make sure it isnt connected to anything else like your horn or lights. Somewhere it is probably grounding out on something causes the fuse to blow. ( I doubt it is, just to be safe I would check) If you are not good with wiring I would take it to the dealer and have them look at it. If you are good with wiring I would unhook your battery and pull the fuse and try to check the wires for a chafe ( rub in the wire that exposes the inside).

Usually when a fuse is blown there is an underlying problem. I would take this one to the dealership as something is likely shorted electrically.

Mine was a ground in the Side detector system, both sides. The replacement modules are newer version, and sealed like they should have been in the first place. My cost $488. Gm paid the other. Car 4 1/2 years old, mileage 14,000...

Hello Everyone. I really appreciate your answers and it's allowed me to solve the problem with my 2014 Cruze. My info center didn't work and had the same symptoms described above. I kept blowing fuses, too. I was also getting the Service Side Detection notice. After reading these posts, I disconnected the R-side module (passenger side) located in the rear bumper cover and put a new fuse in. It didn't blow and my info center came back on!! I took out the module to inspect it and the you could tell it was definitely letting the elements in and grounding out in there. I really don't care about the side detection option (especially at $250 for a module and potential programming), so I used electrical tape, taped it up really good and zip-tied the lead to the spot where the module goes (so it wasn't hanging). I'm ready to roll. Thanks again for your helpful posts. If anyone decides to replace the module, the part number is F-module 23133818. It was a little hard to find so I talked to the dealer.

I had the same problem: no infotainment center and no backup camera. The 7.5A fuse for the display was blown, and blew immediately again when replaced. Unplugged both blind spot monitors from under the rear bumper and replaced the display fuse again, and the infotainment center and backup camera work again. I had had warnings to fix the blind spot monitors for over a year before the infotainment system was affected.
