Interior Windshield Defroster Setting or Dial Knob

The car in question is a 2013 Chevy cruze 1.8l... my
mother has had a problem with the Heater
setting/knob control. So when heater is turned &
on 1 the heat is on it works. Turn the settings to
feet it works, front dash setting works. But when
turned to windshield defrost is does nothing.
