my brake system is pulsating and I've replace everything 4 times over. What causes this?
1998 dodge durango Brake system pulsation. rotors and drums replaced, all hardware,
calipers and wheel cylinders replaced, master cylinder replaced, and system still
pulsates. pulsates hard when warm and sometimes doesn't do it at all. mostly a pulling
sensation and it is felt thru the truck and not the pedal
your rotors new or not, could be warped, also when you replaced them were they indexed? there is a gauge that is used to "index" the rotors, it has to do with tightening the lugs properly and checking with the gauge for warps.
I have owned a 98 durango slt + 5.9L 4x4 since 2007. Barring other mechanical causes, when you step on the brake and it pulsates, that means the ABS is working. It's supposed to do that in order to allow you to retain some control and be able to steer your vehicle while you brake hard, instead of the brakes just seizing the rotors and drum and make steering impossible. If the pulsation is too strong, or just for your peace of mind, it's best to let a qualified mechanic take a look at it, sir.
