Slipping transmission

Asked by Guru1JMQP Oct 03, 2019 at 09:47 PM about the 2013 Kia Optima SXL Turbo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When hitting brakes hard then reaccelerating, especially
when turning, transmission slips and wheels will squeal
like I'm flooring it. See some clear fluid on garage floor
which never had before. Also, car died twice when quick
stopping, but restarts easily. I'm a lead foot but never had
1 issue in 100K miles. Could I be leaking trans fluid?
Also just had ECU upgrade on recall. Is turbo.

Check the transmission fluid level or have a mechanic check it for you.

Sounds more like a clutch issue than anything else. If clutch not releasing it can bog an engine down when braking until it stalls. Have a tranny shop check it out.
