I have had my used 2013 Volvo XC60 for 2 months. This car has 23000
miles on it. I have taken the car to a Volvo dealership, Toyota and external
mechanics and no one can seem to tell where this sound is coming from. It's
almost like they think I'm crazy, I'm not! Can someone help identify this
sound that I hear as my car is accelerating to 40mph or slowing down from
40mph. It's whining high pitch noise coming from the front of the car almost
like it's the power steering but this has been checked.

I am having the same issue.... 2013 Volvo S60 with 87,000 miles. Purchased in June from Toyota, and been there and Volvo and still no resolution. Whining noise during acceleration and deceleration beginning at 40 MPH to 55 MPH.... Low battery light on since purchase, maintenance light on, car won't lock now, and steering shakes from 60-75mph... this vehicle has been nothing but issues.... anyone have knowledge???

2015 XC60 27k Same issue, 40mph get a whining sound. Gets louder as it warms up, does it under braking ,turning, Neutral and even car off and coasting. sound happens softly at at 40 to 45 then as it warms goes to 30 to 40 mph and more pronounced. Volvo has had it twice and said it was pvc valve but, not fixed.

Had the same issue with my 2011 Volvo XC60 T6. The AWD went bad at 90,000 miles. Sad because it is a nice car. Parts alone cost $9,000 ($4500 final drive, $4500 clutch). I called Volvo with the hope their engineers will put on their thinking hats. If you insist on a Volvo avoid the AWD.
