5.7 hemi struggles to start but runs fine

Asked by Wesley Jul 30, 2016 at 08:55 PM about the 2013 Dodge Charger R/T Max RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Alright so I have a 2013 dodge charger r/t 5.7 hemi
with 70,000 miles also just re did the spark plugs a
month ago and the car has a full exhaust and tune
just fyi. just recently when I go to start my car after
sitting for more than an hour (give or take) the
starter turns over numerous times trying to start
the car until my car eventually barley kicks to life
bringing up the rpms from very low to eventually
idling fine. once I start it I notice a very rich gas
oder and somtimes see a light smoke coming from
the tail pipes. I have a few guesses what it could
be and did a fair amount of research. judging by
the strong smell of gas I was thinking one of the
fuel injectors could be leaking and causing the fuel
rails to lose pressure as well as flooding the motor.
Another guess was possibly the fuel pump is
having issues (not sure If that's common with this
car). idk those are my two main guess I have some
other ideas. ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREAT
THANKS. I will respond

Load the stock tune back in and see if that fixes it.

I'll try it but I have tried re tuning it already and im scared it could run worse with the stock tune cause of my headers
