Ball joints can only be replaced one way. Press out the old and one press in the new one. CV joints that go bad or where the rubber boots have deteriorated, are normally replaced as a single unit. Thus a drive shaft with inboard and outboard CV joints. Not certain that these replacements will damage a transfer case.
