2001 dodge dakota

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Pulled my ecm plugs out and the first plug has oil
amd ALOT of residue inside the port. Getting No
BuS signal and hooked up code reader and got no
response. Wouldnt read. So im assuming its the
ecm. But what is the oil like residue from?

1 Answer

Did you clean the oil out and try it? I would use a contact cleaner. If the ECU has insulating oil inside that would be the likely source. I do not know for a fact how your ECU is insulated.
