Is a new piston worth the price?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

According to my car mechanic, my 2012 outback needs one new piston for
$2.3K.  Is this worth the repair?  I have 131,000 miles on the car.

Sounds like a waste of money. Either rebuild the whole engine or scrap the car.
