Why is there no power to anything in the car?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2012 Kia Optima was working fine when I went into the store. When I came out
there was no electrical working at all. No locks, display, nothing. Changed out
the battery and still nothing. Connections look good. No indication prior that
there was anything wrong.

Look for a large MAXI style fuse in the underhood fuse box. Probably stamped 100 on the top. This will be the main fuse for the vehicle. If it's blown replace it. If it blows again you have a serious electrical problem that needs professional attention! Hope that helps! Jim

Turns out, it was an issue with the key fob. I tested continuity of power getting to different parts of the engine. I was getting power. Since it was a keyless push to start, problems with the fob will shut the entire car down. Followed the instructions for that in hand book and it fixed the issue. Car started write up. Then had to reprogram the the fob.

I had the same issue, but when i payed attention to what my screen was showing, i realized that when it says 'insert key' it shows a picture of the glove box. So i opened the glove box and sure enough, the key fob for right inside of an auto ejectable insert station just for the key fob. By then it was too late and my battery died. So i replaced the bad battery in the key fob, by talking the screws out and popping it apart. I have a kia Hybrid 2012. Since the car was dead, i had to lift the hood, take off the cover to the fuse box, where i found the positive cable wire connected to it, got a jumper box, barely touched it and grounded the negative wire clamp from the jumper box, and it started on it's own. Now i insert the key fob in to the glove box insert, every chance i get, because it charges it. It will also remind you of you leave it in there.

2012 Kia Optima Hybrid no power, changed out battery and a day later again dead. It was the key fob. I inserted the remote in a left side slot in the glove compartment and it started.
