What size engine can I put in my 03 Dodge Dakota
without any custom work

If you want to go with a bigger engine, then you would need the transmission that goes with the engine you want to put in along with the computer and wiring harness in order to make it run.

Depending on what you want to do, you may want to consider swapping out the rear end for shorter gears, make your truck faster off the line, if you don't mind sacrificing freeway gas mileage. You'd want to tweak the PCM if you do something like that.

You can actually put in a small v8 into the dakota without changing the transmission...I'm not sure about the motor mount placement

Go big 440 with a police cam or rv cam... It will fit but it's going to be tight but that's the way she likes it... Ford 9 in rear end 1970 Bronco front end on leafs unless you got lots of money then do a 3 or 4 link front end... Sweet... That's what I want to do... Sounds like fun...

I need to replace my 2002 Dodge Dakota 4.7 with the 8th digit in vin number being a letter N I found a 2000 Dodge Dakota 4.7 with the letter N being the 8th digit. Both are 4x4 and 5 speed manual. Will this work ?
