What does finger loose mean when dealing with lug nuts

Asked by Tdizzlemo1 May 17, 2014 at 08:14 PM about the 2012 Dodge Charger SXT RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just recently took off my tires and
plasti dipped them then re-installed
them. I tightened the tires up very
tight then after a short drive they
weren't really loose but like I could
twist then still so I re tightened them
again and then the next day after
another drive I tightened them as
tight as possible because I watched
a video from mopar that said all
strength was needed to tighten the
tires. I'm afraid they may loosen up a
but again after I drive more... Am I ok
? Am I overreacting ?? It's a 2012
dodge charger sxt. It has 40,000
miles on it.

hopefully you didn't plasti-dip the surfaces where the lugnuts seat on the wheels. you will not get the proper torque on the lugnuts if there is anything there. assuming you have corrected that, contact a local tire shop for the correct torque for your size lug studs.

Also did you tighten them in stages and cati corner? If not rim might not have centered properly to all lugs.

@dandyoun I did them cati cornered and @madmopar I don't believe I took the plasti dip off where the nut touches the rim because In all the videos I watched they did not tape it off or take it off before they rebolted theirs on
