My A/C recently started getting pretty weak... I had it on full and it wasn't really that cool. would a simple A/C recharge fix that problem?

Yes and no. It will probably work...for a while. But pretty much the only reason its not working now is due to a leak. AC systems dont require topping off. Theyre sealed and consume no refrigerant. Have it leak checked, or youll go through this every year or possibly even more often.

make sure the accessory belt is fresh and not slipping...much cheaper and easier solution- possibly the tensioner and bearing as well-
