A/C Pro Recharge Kit Problem

My AC no longer blows out cold air so I used a half
empty can that i have from a year ago. I started to
recharge my AC, and as I was about 20 seconds
into recharging the car started hissing and then
white smoke or vapor started to slowly come out
so I disconnected the AC kit and turned off my car.
The hissing continued even after turning the car
off. It isnt as loud anymore but it is still hissing.
Any ideas of why this might have happened? Do I
have a leak?

Servicing your own A/C system is usually not a good idea. Take it to a pro that is qualified to do that type of work.

Yes you have developed a leak and lost all of the refrigerant. So the leak must be fixed and then vacuum must be applied to the system to remove ALL the air from the system and insure that the leak has been repaired. The dryer may also need to be changed. After all of this then the system can be recharged with the refrigerant. So yes take it to a shop that does this be ready to pay $$$$$$$$$$$. Sorry but summer is coming.
