My 05 dodge neon shut off after getting hot and won't restart..

I have an 05 dodge neon sxt 5 speed. I had a crank
shaft sensor or can sensor replaced and my clutch
line replaced in order to get it inspected but as I
was on my way it got hot, not in red or hot enough
for the dinging to start but it shut off and wouldn't
start back up. It sat for about a week and is trying
to start now with an occasional backfire but won't
completely turn over.. Please help!

I wonder if the timing belt broke?
