Replaces alternator in a 2012 kia sorento and it wont start

We replaced the alternator and now there's a
flashing light on the dash of a car with a key in it
and a clicking under the dash. Why and how do I fix
it?

Security light! You disconnected the battery and now it doesnt recognize key. You would have to use the key and unlock it.
