i have a 2004 ford escape and the radio will work and then no sound is coming turn volume up and th e symbol for station will disappear and i can turn it off and on will play for a couple seconds

Sounds like the in car amp. I have the same problem. Going to wire a new stereo, but ultimately, I believe you could bypass and directly splice the wires to the speakers.
