My 2011 Ford Escape will blow cold air for about 3 seconds when the AC is turned on. I checked the compressor and the clutch will engage for those first couple seconds and then stop completely.

Yeah hook up manifold set and compare pressures based on ambient temperature. If compressor is short cycling it is probably low on refrigerant. Low pressure switch is keeping compressor from coming on to protect it.
