Rear windshield wiper

Asked by Jim Jan 27, 2021 at 11:01 AM about the 2010 Nissan Xterra SE 4WD

Question type: General

I've had this problem with the two XTerras I've owned, both within the last
couple of years and both used.  Is there a tensioning nut putting pressure on
the spring that will allow for better cleaning of the area the blade covers?  I
get sort of a clean area, but either rain water or cleaning fluid sort of sit
there, smeared with the dirt, not really making for a better view.  And, the
"fan" you expect to see as a clean area is fuzzy around the farthest end.  I've
put in new blades, but that still doesn't help.

I would pull up on the wiper arm and try bending the wiper arm towards the window slightly with your hands slightly so as not to damage it, to see if that helps. If not, then I would replace the wiper arm. They retail around $35.
